On Thursday 27th June the whole school travelled to Leyton Orient Football Club for a Sports and Business Studies trip. When we got to the club, Howard Gould, the Community Liason Officer, gave us a talk about the history of the club and information about recent events. We then went on a tour, viewing behind the scenes, the board room, pitch side and the directors’ areas, all the while finding out lots of really interesting information about running a London football club.
After lunch we had a talk from Sophie Omer, the finance manager, who spoke to us about her role in the club and the difficulties in financing an organisation like Leyton Orient. Throughout the day, the students’ behaviour was exemplary and they were engaged, polite and enthusiastic. A special mention goes to Albert in Year 7 who was the first person in 17 years to answer a question regarding the club mascot correctly and to Jay, who asked some very interesting and pertinent questions throughout the day. Thank you to all the staff who made the day so seamless.
